Customer Reviews
By Karen Sophiea- good for home, not so good for travel,
I purchased two of these planning to leave one at home for my daughter's PC, phone, kindle, etc, and use then other for travel. My husband and I can charge both phones, his bluetooth headset and my iPad using only one outlet. The product works wonderfully at home, transforming a single outlet into many surge-protected outlets, plus the USB charging capability. However, the first time I used one for travel, the grounding plug separated from the rest of the device while in my suitcase. I guess if you kept the package in which it was shipped, or always bubble-wrapped it when you travel, this might not be an issue. But definitely don't just toss it into your suitcase and expect it to remain in one piece.(read more customer review)
By Randall Narayan- Compact surge protector that is great for travel
I bought this surge protector to charge my smartphone and other devices during travel.
Pro's:
-The USB ports on the top of the device have been a great plus for charging my smartphone.
-Compact design makes it easy to fit into a backpack or suitcase, but it is still too big to consider putting in my shoulder bag.
-Rotating plug allows it to fit into any outlet
Con's:
-The plug does not sit flush against the wall, making it difficult to plug devices in without unplugging the whole surge protector from the wall.
-The USB outlets are low power, so it will take a long time to charge a smartphone with it (at least overnight for 100% charge). Also, the power output from these USB ports is too low to charge devices like the Flip video camera. I charged the Flip camera in this overnight for a trip to the San Deigo Zoo. When we got to the zoo the next day, the camera ran out of batteries immediately. When we returned to the hotel, we discovered that the power from the USB ports is insufficient to provide any charge to the camcorder. (read more customer review)
By Bill from Mountain View "chinacatdawg"- Will not charge an iPad
It's not very small and the USB sockets will not charge my iPad. That's one of the things I bought it for so I have to rate it pretty poorly based on that. (read more customer review)
